A SELF-advocacy group for people with learning disabilities had a fun day out at Henley Regatta.
Members of CLASP Wokingham were keen to try out paddling, and enjoyed themselves so much that they plan to go again next year.
CLASP CEO Debs Morrison, said: “We had an amazing day at the Regatta.
We took along nine paddlers and four helping paddlers.
“Our paddling wasn’t the best – it was more like scooping water over each other – and we did get very wet.
But it was so much fun and I think we’ll need to get practising, because we plan to return next year.
Michele Munro, independence support worker for CLASP, said: “Team CLASP did fantastically well, narrowly missing out on getting into the final for the racing.
“And they came home with a trophy for the Most Enthusiastic Team, which we are all absolutely thrilled about.”
CLASP member, Ben, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed it, good day, really enjoyed participating.”
Philip, added: “It was a lot of fun; the boat trip was great and I loved making the bracelet.”
And Martin, said: “The rowing was good to do as I have not done it for years, We did get a bit wet though.”
Debs continued: “It was so inspiring to see the members try something different, work as a team and show such enthusiasm – we really had a fantastic time.
“And we were able to talk about the event on BBC radio Berkshire with one of the trustees Lucy Bowley.”
CLASP offers services to its members each week from Monday to Friday.
