IT’S THE height of summer, and members of CLASP can enjoy a wide range of activities in August that are both fun and informative.
Regular CLASP sessions continue, including Movie Mates, Coffee Shop, Dancing to Music, Book Corner, Happy & Healthy Club Sports & Fitness sessions, Craft Club, Evening Drop-In at Sedero Lounge, Active Session, Gardening Club, Take Notice, Puzzle Club and Choir.
Take Notice sessions, which consult, campaign, inform and inspire, will this month include discussions on health, history, and volunteering.
They take place on Fridays, they begin on August 1 with a session on the history of Wokingham.
Then, on August 8 there is a First Aid workshop, followed on August 15 by a discussion on powering the body with good food and exercise.
On August 22 Dora will talk about her experience of volunteering, and on August 29, the group will discuss family trees and family history.
An exciting end to the month comes on Saturday, August 30, when CLASP will be river boat racing during a day out at the Regatta for the Disabled in Henley.
CLASP is a self advocacy group for people with learning disabilities in the Wokingham borough.
User-led, it is run by its members, employing people with learning disabilities, and offering them voluntary opportunities.
Members receive one to one support, information, advice and signposting.
CLASP also runs a disability awareness training group, Listen To Us, a campaigning group called Take Notice, and social clubs and events throughout the week.
