A SELF advocacy group for people with learning disabilities in the Wokingham borough lifted their voices to sing for others on Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day on Friday.
CLASP Wokingham’s choir gathered outside the town’s Waitrose supermarket to cheer shoppers, and to raise money for Comic Relief to help children facing poverty and hardship in the UK and internationally.
“We raised a wonderful £229.52,” said Michele Munro from CLASP.
“We’re super proud of everyone – they loved the opportunity to raise money for this good cause.”
User-led, CLASP Wokingham is run by its members, employing people with learning disabilities, and offering them voluntary opportunities.
Members receive one to one support, information, advice and signposting.
It also runs a disability awareness training group, Listen To Us, a campaigning group called Take Notice, and social clubs and events throughout the week.
The group welcomes new member enquiries.
