A SPECIAL celebration was held earlier this summer to mark the 75th birthday of a much-loved community stalwart.
Joseph Davidson – known as Joe – who is a member of CLASP, a self-advocacy group for people with learning disabilities in the Wokingham borough.

To mark the occasion, the group gathered at the Cantley Lodge hotel for a special birthday meal.
They presented Joe with gifts and a card as well as a special poster featuring quotes from Rose Buddies members who have been inspired and helped by him.

One, Dean, said: “He makes me feel confident when I go to new places with him. He always goes out of his way if I need a chat with him. He is a very supportive person.”
And Steven said: “Joe is friendly and he is always on time for things and does not take nonsense.”
Philip wrote: “Joe is a good man and always looking out for people and is a caring person.”
Hannah said: “He’s a good mate, he’s always there, always makes me happy”.
It’s not the only time recently that Joe has been made a fuss of: he was invited, on behalf of CLASP, to cut the ribbon on frozen food retailer COOK in Peach Place, declaring it open.
