A prominent local councillor is recovering after a fall whilst election canvassing led to a total hip replacement.
Cllr Prue Bray, a liberal democrat councillor for Winnersh, deputy leader of Wokingham Borough Council and its executive member of children’s services, suffered the accident in Finchampstead last week whilst on the campaign trail.
She told Wokingham Today: “I am frustrated at tripping over and being out of action this week of all weeks.
“However, my hip replacement operation happened yesterday (Sunday), and my recovery seems to be going well.
“All the staff at Royal Berkshire Hospital have been fantastic, and I couldn’t ask for better care.”
