THE FORMER director of football at Reading FC is to appear in court on Wednesday for an offence relating to an original accusation of speeding.
Brian Humphry Tevreden, 36, appeared at Reading Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 13 – the day after he officially left the football club.
On October 1, 2017, Tevreden, of Maine Street, Reading, is alleged to have been driving a Mercedes that was doing 78mph in a 60mph zone on the M4 near the Heston services at Brentford.
A second charge saw Tevreden accused of failing to provide information as to the identity of the driver of the Mercedes at the time of the alleged offence.
Initially Tevreden was found guilty of this offence in his absence. However, a statutory declaration was made by Tevreden in accordance with section 16E of the Magistrates Court Act 1980, and this verdict was set aside. He has had the charge put to him afresh.
In response to the charge he put in a plea of not guilty.
Tevreden is now set to appear at a case management hearing at Lavender Hill Magistrates Court on Wednesday, October 10.
If he opts not to attend, he is ordered to write to the court explaining why he has pleaded not guilty over the “fail to nominate driver” offence.
