PEOPLE with an interest in written, musical and artistic pursuits can join The Arts Society Wokingham.
The borough group meets monthly to hear talks on a wide range of topics.
At their next meeting they will hear from Professor Raymond Holden who will speak about the music and life of Sir Henry J Wood, founder of the Proms and a master musician.
“Without the tireless efforts of Sir Henry Wood, British musical life would be very different indeed,” said Sue Bryant, from the group.
“We invite people to come and learn why and how Sir Henry Wood set about making music available to the man in the street by founding the Promenade Concerts.”
The event will take place at King’s Academy, Binfield on Monday, February 24.
Doors open for refreshments at 7.15pm, with the lecture beginning at 7.45pm.
Guests, always welcome, are asked to email: memsectheartssocietywham@gmail.com to reserve a place.
