WE LOVE it when bands keep releasing new content, showing that they are not a flash in the pan.

So we’re thrilled this week to present two new singles that have links to Spriggan Mist, champions of the local music scene for years.

They are part of our weekly RaW Sounds Today playlist, a great collection of music from bands and artists with a connection to Reading and Wokingham, many of whom you can hear live over the coming months.

Every week, we aim to showcase music you may not have heard of, giving you the chance to discover something new.

Aaron Cilia – Baguazhang

Aaron is a local musician, songwriter, producer and sound engineer who has certainly developed his sound and production skills over the last few years as you can hear on this new single release.

It’s an instrumental which keeps the listener enthralled as it takes you on a musical journey culminating with some wonderful guitar solos.

Neil Wighton – There’ll Come a Time

This is the debut solo single from the guitarist with Bracknell-based band, Spriggan Mist, a band whose sound engineer and producer by coincidence is Araron Cilia.

Anyway, this single by Neil is self-written and recorded and it’s very good.

It has a mellow feel, a melodic chorus that sticks in your head and some beautiful guitar playing.

One Eyed Man – I Will Be Reminded

This local indie folk artist releases another excellent single and it’s a very moving one too as it’s a tribute to a great friend of his called Milan who sadly passed away.

Adomania – Primal

One of our fave local bands, Adomania, opened our first playlist of 2024 with this song from their recent two-track single. The band have gone up a level with tighter musicianship and production – https://www.facebook.com/AdomaniaBand/

Sophie Lloyd – Won’t You Come (feat. Marisa Rodriguez)

Marisa and the Moths – Fake It Till You Make It

It’s Marisa again (see above) with her band and their single from December.

Patchy Blonde – Don’t Ask, Don’t Get

A cool debut solo single from Wokingham-based Madeleine Bowis, who is also the vocalist from Adomania – https://linktr.ee/patchyblonde

Modesty Blue – Sad Sweet Dreamer

Local group based around musician Sean Lynch and singer Sam Nolan with their single based around a cover of the 1970s classic by Sweet Sensation – https://www.facebook.com/modestybluemusic

Deva St.John – Broke

Deva always appears in our Top 20 of the year and this is another excellent single that she released in late 2023. She will be live at Reading’s Oakford Social Club on February 10 – https://www.facebook.com/dayvasaintjohn

Reliant – Never Enough

Wokingham indie rockers released a new single in November and it’s another melodic anthem with their trademark alt-rock guitar sound. They have an Islington Academy London show on February 24 – https://linktr.ee/wearereliant
