MENACING, mischief and mayhem is happening in Bracknell this week – and it’s all thanks to half-term.
The Lexicon has teamed up with The Beano for a celebration of the famous comic, which is currently celebrating the 70th anniversary of The Bash Street Kids.
Across the town centre, there will be a host of activities including create-your-own cartoon workshops, a gnawsome trail, and interactive flatuence-filled joke boxes featuring characters from the comic.
Visitors can win prize bundles by completing a Gnasher Trail.
The black-haired Abyssinian Wire-Haired Tripe Hound is hiding in shop windows, causing mischief.
Families can follow the trail and complete the comic-strip-themed sheet by finding the punchlines to classic Beano jokes.
Everyone who hands in a completed trail sheet to the team at Craft Coop, in Princess Square, will be given a free Beano comic, while stocks last.
The trail runs until Sunday, February 18.
And, from Monday, February 12 to Friday, February 16 2024, there is an opportunity for mini menaces to create a comic character at a brand new Create with Beano workshop in Princess Square.
The 30-minute interactive workshops, suitable for children aged six to 12, will be filled with whoopee cushion laughs and creative play.
Places are limited, so while the workshops are free, they must be booked in advance.
Also in Princess Square, there will be an array of Beano-themed interactive joke boxes for kids to enjoy and daily activity sheets which can be taken away and completed at home.
Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon says: “We are so delighted to be able to offer something fun and different during February half term.
“Beano characters are infamously full of mischief and laughter, and we believe their presence in the town centre will put a smile on many faces.”
This sentiment was matched by Cllr Paul Bidwell, Bracknell Forest Council’s executive member for economic development and regeneration, who said: “This event will no doubt be a family favourite, entertaining youngsters and bringing back fond memories to adults.
“With the free activities on offer, it will give families the chance to spend quality time together. I can’t wait to join in the fun.”
