Hurst has a big weekend coming up, starting with the St Nicholas Church Christmas Fayre, followed by the St Nicholas Night celebrations the next day.
Special guest Father Christmas will be ready to meet youngsters at the fayre from noon this Saturday (December 2).
The event at Hurst Village Hall, is open from 11am until 3pm and will have a Christmas market feel with stalls outside as well as inside the hall. There will be gift, cake, craft and card stalls, with craft activities and games for the children.
A barbecue and other refreshments will be available. It’s suggested visitors bring both cards and cash. Visitors are invited to make a donation at the entry.
Then on Sunday (December 3) villagers will gather from 5pm at School Road recreation ground opposite the pond, for their St Nicholas Night celebrations.
The Christmas tree lights will be switched on at 5.30pm by the Revd Graham Theobald. The event, the village’s 19th, celebrates St Nicholas Day which is on December 6.
Waltham St Lawrence Silver Band will be playing. Mulled wine donated by Richard Hardy of Fig&Fleur, mince pies and Christmas cakes from Waitrose and goodies bags donated by Chocoholics will be available.
