PEOPLE in a borough village can enjoy something a bit different this festive season.
Finchampstead Baptist Church’ is hosting Comedians and Carols, an event that promises ‘singalong carols, joyous fun, and professional hilarity’.
Launched by writer and comedian Paul Kerensa, the show has been touring the nation with its festive hybrid of Christmas laughter and songs for 15 years.
Clean family-friendly fun is promised from guest stand-ups, and while jokes lean towards an adult audience, children are welcome.
Previous stand-up performers have included Tim Vine, Miranda Hart, Jo Enright, Andy Kind, Tony Vino, and Gareth Richards.
Performing live at FBC will be Paul Kerensa, Tony Vino, and George Egg.
Paul Kerensa has, unusually, appeared on both London’s Comedy Store, and BBC Radio 2 programme, Pause for Thought.
Writer of BBC1’s Miranda and Not Going Out, he is also a stand-up comedy club performer with five solo Edinburgh Fringe shows under his belt.
Tony Vino entertains at high-profile charity events for major UK organisations, such as Christian Aid, Oxfam, Fairtrade Foundation and Tearfund.
Known for his quick witted observational humour and audience interaction, he also performs at resorts, on cruises, on radio and on television.
George Egg is a comedian who cooks.
In his anarchic show, audiences can expect him to use unexpected equipment and surprising methods to make food on stage.
Described as funny, inspiring and absurd, he has appeared, and cooked, on Channel 4’s Bake Off, An Extra Slice, ITV’s This Morning, and BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends.
Lead pastor of Finchampstead Baptist Church Chris Simpkins, said: “This is the first time we’ve hosted the show at FBC.
“We wanted to create an opportunity for the community come together to have fun.
“These are all high quality entertainers.
“The comedians all have a faith, but the show isn’t religious in any way.
“It’s definitely not a carol concert, and any carols in the show will be as you’ve never heard them before.
“I’m definitely going to be there. I can’t wait.”
Comedians and Carols will take place at Finchampstead Baptist Church, on Sunday, December 3.
Doors open at 7.30pm, with tickets available, costing £8 for adults, or £4 for under 18s, students, unwaged and concessions.
Some free tickets are also available for anyone who cannot afford to pay.
