Finchampstead Road at its junction with Molly Millars Lane is closed today for the start of what is expected to be a five-month closure.
Wokingham borough council is shifting the closure point from the eastern end of Molly Millars Lane to the northern entrance of the roundabout on Finchampstead Road.
Traffic will still be able to flow between Molly Millars Lane and the southern approach to the roundabout.
There will be diversions and be some disruption for pedestrians, but the footpath under the railway bridge will be maintained.
The upgraded roundabout is part of the south Wokingham distributor road project and a wider effort to enable future development in the area.
A spokesperson for Wokingham borough council said: “As ever, we would encourage everyone to follow the official diversion routes, and to show consideration to residents and businesses in the area.”
