Two members of Wokingham organisation First Days Children’s Charity have successfully completed the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
Charity founder Emma Cantrell MBE and relationship manager Jess Abraham together tackled Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough in under 12 hours.
The peaks form part of the Pennine range and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The total walking distance is 39.2km (24.5 miles), and each of the peaks is about 700m, a climb of about 400m for each peak.
Emma and Jess took part in the challenge along with a team of 30 from The Clarify Foundation who have so far raised over £8000.99.
Their effort wasn’t just a test of endurance, it was all in support of a cause close to their hearts, First Days Children’s Charity.
The organisation supports families in the borough facing financial difficulties, assisting them to overcome their struggles, grow in confidence, and create a life they can be proud of.
The charity provides school uniforms, baby and child essentials, and laptops for learning, while supporting parents with coaching, emotional and peer support.
Emma and Jess overcame very warm weather, steep ascents, and tired legs, to raise vital funds for the charity.
Their determination and teamwork have already inspired generous donations, but they’re still aiming to reach their fundraising goal.
