A WOKINGHAM children’s charity is delighted to have received a donation of hand stitched quilts.
No fewer than 64 quilts were given to First Days by two groups of Emmbrook Quilters.
“It’s an incredible donation, for which we’re so grateful,” said Jess Abraham from First Days.
“The quilts will be given to families along with the newborn baby packs which the charity provides for families it supports.”
Each quilt is made from offcuts of fabrics carefully and artistically joined together in a variety of patterns to make beautiful throws to treasure.
Simone McGee, who leads the group, said: “We make quilts for fun and for charity.
“First Days is a lovely local organisation, so we’re glad to support them.
“Many of the quilts were made and designed by members of our quilting group at home – I’ve been really impressed with what they have come up with.”
The Emmbrook Quilters have been meeting for 20 years, and have given similar generous quilt donations to First Days in previous years.
They meet at Emmbrook Village Hall on Fridays from 12.30pm until 3.30pm.
First Days, launched in 2013, offers a range of support to borough families facing hardship, including providing school uniforms and winter clothes for youngsters, cots and beds for babies, and peer support groups for parents.
