The Great British Food Festival is coming to Wokingham Borough for the first time this summer.
The foodie event will take place on Saturday, June 29, and Sunday, June 30, at Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst, bringing an amazing selection of food, drinks and entertainment to residents.
The event will be offering a delicious variety of cuisines ranging from flavours much loved in the UK to new ideas from abroad, popular bar drinks including non-alcoholic ones, and non-stop live music on stage.
There will also be an artisan market showcasing an array of local, seasonal and specialty produce to suit different taste buds.
Residents will be able to take part in exciting gourmet activities like a cake baking competition, food challenges and demonstrations by former ‘Great British Bake off’ contestant Sandy Docherty and BBC Food contributor Marni Xuto.
Children will also have plenty to do with cooking classes, a bouncy castle, fairground rides and free activities like party workshops to learn circus skills, treasure hunt and mini zoo.
A limited number of tickets at last year’s prices, with free parking included, are available on the event website at www.greatbritishfoodfestival.com. Early booking is recommended before they sell out and
ticket prices increase. Children under five can enter for free.
Local traders, including artisan producers, street food vendors, bar operators and musicians, still have a chance to take part by applying online. The event expects to host more than 75 food stalls, with the line-up being confirmed.
Cllr Ian Shenton, executive member for environment, sport and leisure, said: “The Great British Food Festival is one of the nation’s favourites, and we’re looking forward to hosting the Berkshire edition for the first time at our flagship country park.
“It’s an event for the whole family to enjoy. It’ll be bringing to our doorsteps a celebration of diverse gastronomic delights and experiences, so be sure to save the dates and not to miss it!”
Daniel Maycock, The Great British Food Festival organiser, said: “We’re excited to add Dinton Pastures to our 2024 calendar.
With its beautiful meadows, lakes, rivers and woodland, the country park offers a stunning natural setting for a perfect foodie day out on a summer weekend.
“We hope to see you all there.”
