Reading City collected what could prove to be an important six points at the wrong end of the Combined Counties Premier North, with wins over Risborough Rangers on Tuesday night and Broadfields United on Saturday.
The Citizens moved up to 13th, three places ahead of Wokingham Town – who picked up a point at play-off chasing North Greenford United on Saturday. The Sumas were due to play second-placed Egham Town on Wednesday night.
Berks County remain three places off the foot of the table with just three games left, including against the Sumas next Tuesday night where a win for either side could secure safety from relegation.
Westwood Wanderers won 1-3 at Burghfield to remain top of the Thames Valley Premier League. The Tilehurst-based side were due to take on Great Missenden in the Berks & Bucks junior final tonight on Thursday at Slough Town.
In the Southern Region Women’s Football League, Reading FC Community Trust picked up their third win of the season with victory at Badshot Lea. Woodley United lost 5-1 at second-placed Wycombe Wanderers.
Wokingham Town Ladies went down 3-0 to Berks County in Division Three South of the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League , despite playing some of their best football of the season. AFC Reading remained second following a 1-1 draw at Taplow United.
In Division One, Finchampstead collected six points with two victories in their double-header against Goring United, while Ashridge Park won 3-2 against Wallingford & Crowmarsh at Cantley Park.
