A HOME care company is gearing up to play cupid by handing out roses on Valentine’s Day in a Twyford cafe.
This Wednesday, kind-hearted staff from Bluebird Care will be playing Cupid and will be out delivering roses and cards to the elderly in an effort to combat loneliness.
And, as part of their efforts, they will also be providing companionship to those they visit helping to alleviate loneliness on this special day.
The company said that their decision to act in this way has been spurred on after local MP Theresa May appointed a Minister for Loneliness last month. It said that it understands that no one should be left isolated and alone and so are working hard to tackle this within our local community.
And to put its time where its mouth is, Bluebird Care is planning to hold coffee mornings in cafes across the borough, inviting local residents to come and make and meet new friends.
In Twyford, there will be a community cafe at Emma’s Kitchen on Wednesday, between 11am and noon, where they will hand out the roses and well as offer a listening ear.
Emma’s Kitchen owner Emma Saville, said: “This is such a fantastic initiative and we look forward to working with Bluebird Care on this and many more initiatives in the future.”
And Bluebird Care’s business development manager, Rebecca Hawkins, added: “We have been doing this now for over four years providing activities to combat isolation for our customers.
“We are proud to extend this to the wider community and helping more people in our local community. It’s on days like Valentine’s and other special dates that make people feel more lonely and Bluebird Care staff really want to make a difference.”
