FANS of fast cars and wacky races enjoy a wheel treat on Saturday, thanks to a special fundraiser, writes Holly Fournier.
But it was more petite prix than grand prix as this racing was with Scaletrix cars.
The event was held at the Pinewood Raceway in Wokingham Without and saw teams do battle to raise funds for the Charley Paige Trust, with the winners receiving trophies. The raceway is 130ft long and six lanes wide, making it one of the biggest slot car tracks in the country.
It wasn’t all racing though: guests could enjoy a barbecue and a real ale bar, try their hand at the tombola and take part in a raffle.
All proceeds went to the volunteer-run Charley Paige Trust, which helps families with children who have limiting illnesses or disabilities.
In all, £2,921 was raised.
Charity trustee Christine Pridmore, who helped organise the day, said: “Everybody seemed to really enjoy the event and it was a real family fun day. We would like to offer a lot of thanks to Pinewood Raceway.”
