A Just Giving page had been launched in memory of former Wokingham Town footballer Callum Lochhead, who passed away last week.
At the time of writing (Tuesday morning), more than £4,300 had been pledged by more than 160 people.
The club is also planning to ask for donations at its match on Saturday afternoon.
The author of the petition wrote: “Callum was so happy, busy, kind, funny, sociable and sporty, and he loved life and lived it to the full, until anxiety and depression took hold in the summer of 2025.
“As a family, we contacted Papyrus several times during the months when Callum was unwell.
“They provide support to individuals who are struggling, as well as to the people who are trying to support them.
