BOROUGH residents will soon be able to give a Christmas present and put a smile on a child’s face.
Each year generous shoppers take part in a campaign for local youngsters who would otherwise go without on Christmas Day.
For more than 23 years The Giving Tree has been encouraging people to buy a gift to make sure a child in need stays on Santa’s list
Giving Trees in the borough will be decorated with gift tags for shoppers to choose.
They buy the toy or voucher requested on it, and return the gift, unwrapped, to the tree.
From there it is distributed to charities for wrapping and delivery to children.
This year’s Giving Tree launch will be attended by Wokingham Borough Council mayor, councillor Beth Rowland, and town mayor, councillor Sally Gurney.
The campaing is organised by Gill Mckernan.
With Louise Jedras Tesco community champion, Ms Mckernan will welcome charity leaders and dignitaries to the launch at Tesco Wokingham on Tuesday, November 14.
