A WOKINGHAM church, present in the town for more than two centuries celebrated its longevity with the borough.
Wokingham Baptist Church (WBC), on Milton Road invited local residents to join them in Elms Field for a fun day with face painting, goal scoring, crafts, music, cakes, and a fire engine.
Savannah Bell, pioneer minister in training at WBC, and the church’s minster Rev Nick Hudson explained why the church was celebrating.
Ms Bell said: “We’re here to celebrate out 250th anniversary.
“We wanted to mark the occasion with a variety of events, all with a heart for the community.
“This is one of the main activities we’re holding this year, and we want to bless people with it.
“The church has been here since 1774,” added Mr Hudson, “so it’s great to be able to share that.
“Everything at our fun day is free, including: face painting, hook-a-duck, balloon modelling, craft tent, biscuit decorating, football penalty shoot-out, water pistol, gladiator challenge, and second hand clothes stall.
“We wanted it to be possible for anyone to come.
“We know that people are struggling with the cost of living, so we thought it would be nice if they could just come along and have a nice time.
Ms Bell added: “We’re thankful to the community for coming out and supporting this event.
“There’s a lovely atmosphere, and people seem to be enjoying themselves.
“And thank you to Wokingham Town Council for allowing us to hold the event in Elms Field.”
