Modifications to a road that has been the scene of numerous accidents had been planned, and was not as a result of recent media attention.
Wokingham Today featured the story about Hatch Farm Way on its front page on May 23, highlighting calls from residents to act before someone is seriously injured – or worse.
Last week, workers from Wokingham Borough Council were seen repainting the existing hatched markings in the road.
A new “slow” marking was also placed on the carriageway.
A spokesperson for the council said: “I can confirm that these works were not as a result of the newspaper article.
“They had been planned for some time, and were rescheduled from their initial date in March due to the bad weather.”
