An appeal has been launched to help find a dog stolen while its owner was receiving hospital treatment.
Bert, a male cocker spaniel, was taken on 22 February from Glennifer Farm, Sandy Lane in Wokingham, while his owner, Victor, was in hospital being treated for cancer.
According to details shared via DogLost, a volunteer-run service that helps reunite missing pets with their owners, the dog was allegedly taken by a relative, who also removed Bert’s paperwork.
Victor’s family said the loss has been “devastating”, particularly for his elderly father, and described Bert as a “lifeline”.
The dog was last seen at a property on Sandy Lane, in the area of Wokingham.

Thames Valley Police have issued a crime reference number in relation to the incident.
Bert is registered to the GU14 area.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police quoting the relevant reference number, or report sightings through DogLost.
