Roger Herridge is aiming to put Binfield’s County Cup final last week behind him with victory over Woodcote Stoke Row tomorrow.
Thames Valley Premier side Woodcote have been the season’s surprise package in the Reading Senior Cup, defeating Finchampstead and Highmoor-Ibis along the way to this semi-final clash.
Herridge’s charges will go in as firm favourites to reach the Madejski Stadium final again and set up a showdown with either Bracknell Town or Wokingham and Emmbrook, but the Moles boss admits he is not sure what to expect at Hill Farm Lane.
“Who knows what we’re going to face,” said Herridge.
“In this competition, you don’t know who or what you’re going to face, but we know it won’t be an easy game.
“Some of our players, based on performances against Bracknell last week, will have to improve if we’re going to win this game.”
He added: “We’ve got the makings of something here.
“We know we’ve got players who possibly at the minute aren’t good enough to make sure when we get to these finals that we win them and make sure we finish in the top two or three in the league.
“I suppose it is my job to try and find those players or hopefully try to improve the ones we’ve got.
“It’s all a bit of a learning curve for them and for me.”
Herridge has taken Binfield to four cup finals since he took charge, losing all four and failing to complete a game with 11 men after two were shown red cards during 2-0 loss against Bracknell last Tuesday.
And he is eyeing another potential tussle with the Robins in the final after losing all five previous meetings with their rivals this season.
“Binfield’s a proper football club and we want to win things,” said Herridge.
“We get to finals, we’ve just got to work out how to win them.
“We won’t lose any sleep about losing last week.
“We’ll give it some thought and maybe it will be sixth time lucky if we get to the Reading Senior Cup final.”
