Reading FC manager Paul Ince described Junior Hoilett as the ‘ultimate professional’.
The Canadian international has impressed with a positive start to the campaign despite playing out of position.
Hoilett has been required to play at right-wing back for a majority of Reading’s opening five Championship games, where they sit third in the table in the early stages.
“He’s a credit to everyone, every player at this club,” said Ince.
“He always comes in everyday smiling, he’s got an infectious smile that lights up the room.
“He’s always working on his stretching, he’s the ultimate pro.
“He has to do the defensive of things, playing at wing-back is tough, you have to go up and down and it’s a tough ask.
“Yids (Andy Yiadom) does it naturally because that’s the way he plays as a right-back.
“He (Hoilett) plays there and gets on with it, doesn’t moan about it and got his goal against Blackburn.”
Hoilett netted the second goal in Reading’s 3-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers which saw them end the visitors’ perfect start to the season.
The 32-year-old has 47 international caps for Canada and will be hoping to represent his country at this year’s World Cup after they qualified for the first time in 36 years.
Ince continued: “The way I’d describe Junior is very, very, very low maintenance.
“He is the perfect player to work with.
“He just gets on with his business, tries his hardest. He’s an example to all players at our football club.”
He joined the Royals on a free transfer last summer after being released by Cardiff City and played 27 league games and scored three times.
Hoilett then joined up with the squad during their pre-season trip at England’s St George’s Park and signed another one-year deal.
