Meatballs, flat pack furniture and Swedish style will be flowing out of Calcot this summer – IKEA has announced the opening date of the new store.
The 19th UK branch of the hugely popular furnishing retailer will open for business on Thursday, July 14.
It is the first UK store to be built in seven years and means an end for IKEA fans to trek to Wembley, Bristol or Southampton for their flat pack fix.
The 32,000 square metre store has been built on Pincents Lane, Calcot, and will provide the full IKEA product range of high-quality, low-price products, creating up to 350 jobs in a wide range of areas, including customer relations, sales, interior design and in the IKEA restaurant.
Recruitment and training of newly appointed co-workers has already begun, with just 130 roles left to fill by those who would like be part of the largest home furnishing company in the world. Training for the remaining successful applicants will begin immediately once they have joined the team, as IKEA works towards the much anticipated launch day.
Johanna Heuren, IKEA Reading Store Manager, said: “We are thrilled to announce the official IKEA Reading store opening date as we continue to move closer to bringing our home furnishing offer to people in the Thames Valley.
“We are still on the look-out for passionate and curious co-workers to be part of the team that brings IKEA to people in the Thames Valley, so I encourage anyone who shares our passion for home furnishing and people to get in touch.”
