WOKINGHAM residents can learn about some of the issues relating to modern slavery at a talk in January.
Corpus Christi Church is hosting an event at which Sister Imelda Poole IBVM MBE will share her experience working with a charity supporting victims of slavery.
Sister Imelda is a former president of RENATE (Religious in Europe Networking Against Trafficking and Exploitation), and founded the Mary Ward Loreto Foundation (MWL) which works cross-border in Albania and the UK supporting victims, providing rehabilitation, and working towards prevention.
The group offers awareness-raising through civic education to address the root causes of human trafficking and modern slavery.
Sister Imelda will talk not only about her work, but about how to recognise possible modern slavery and what we can do about it.
She will speak at Corpus Christi Church, Wokingham, on Wednesday, January 8, from 7.30pm until 9pm.
Refreshments will be available afterwards.
There is no charge to attend, but people are asked to register, by visiting: https://bit.ly/CCMDS, or by calling: 07940 812031
