A new event that will provide another fundraising opportunity is coming to Wokingham this summer.
Wokingham Lions is hoping the Wokingham Swimathon, which is planned for Saturday, June 22, will become a regular feature in the town’s community event calendar.
A spokesperson for Wokingham Lions Club said: ‘We see this event as another opportunity for local groups to raise funds for themselves.
“The Wokingham May Fayre, The Winter Carnival and the Wokingham Walk have enabled charities, youth groups and PTAs to raise £1000’s over the past few decades, and we see the Swimathon as another fundraising opportunity.”
The event has capacity for up to 30 teams, and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
“If we could reach full capacity in our first ever Swimathon that would be fantastic.”
Wokingham Lions also expressed its thanks to the management team at the Wokingham Leisure Centre, and to Places Leisure, the company that runs the centre.
