Wokingham Borough Council has opened a consultation into its recently-approved Local Plan Update.

The document sets out the planning strategy and policies proposed to manage development across the borough until 2040.

The council has now published the LPU: Proposed Submission Plan (Regulation 19) for comments. Representations are invited until 10am on Tuesday, November 12.

The publication documents can be found on the Local Plan Update page. Supporting evidence can be found on the evidence studies page.

Representations should be based on the legal compliance and soundness of the Local Plan.

Further details on these can be found in the representation guidance note available on the Local Plan Update page.

More details on the tests of soundness can be found in paragraph 35 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) (2023).

Hard copies of the documents can also be viewed at Wokingham Borough Council offices, Shute End, Wokingham, between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, and at Wokingham library at the Carnival Hub on Wellington Road during library opening times.

Public drop-in sessions will be held during the publication period, and will be confirmed in the coming weeks. Details of these will appear on the Local Plan Update web page, as well as on the councils social media.

There have been a number of opportunities to respond to the LPU and help to shape the Plan since 2016.

This is your final opportunity to make comments, and following the close of the publication period the council will submit the plan, representations received and the evidence base, to the Government for examination by an independent Planning Inspector.

The council cannot accept anonymous comments, and comments will be published with your name only.

For any questions regarding the LPU and the publication process, get in touch with the planning policy team via email at [email protected].
