A WOKINGHAM charity is giving visitors an up-close encounter with magnificent birds of prey.
Promise Inclusion’s animal experience will raise much needed funds for the group, while offering people the chance to see powerful raptors display their skills.
Visitors will also be able to handle, and take pictures with the birds.
Promise Inclusion has arranged for Berkshire Birds of Prey to bring their winged wonders to Woosehill in early September, and invites people to buy tickets now, before they are gone.
Feathered stars looked after by the Berkshire handlers include Bella the barn owl who dances with excitement when she catches prey, Bertie the European eagle owl who loves cuddles, Fagin the Western screech owl, a ‘cuddle bun’ who likes to sleep on his tummy, Toodles the Indian scops owl with a distinctive bent beak, and Lightning McQueen, whose speed (and constant conversation) set him a part.
Sue Hall, chair of trustees said: “ I can’t wait to hear all about the birds and to have my picture taken with Toodles the owl.”
Promise Inclusion is a user-led group that works to enrich the lives of adults and children with learning disabilities and/or autism, and their families, in the Wokingham and Bracknell Forest boroughs.
Children and their siblings can take part in exciting activities, and adults are helped to learn new skills, to build self-esteem, and to become more independent while having fun.
Carers can access emotional and practical support from their dedicated Family Liaison Team.
The charity’s birds of prey close encounter event will take place on Saturday, September 7, at The Acorn Community Centre, Woosehill, from 2pm until 4pm.
Tickets cost £7.50, or £5 for children aged two to 16.
To book, call: 0300 777 8539, or email: [email protected].
