IF THE Candy Man can, then so can a Charvil choir.
The Project Singers, a music group for female voices, is planning its summer event, which it promises will be sweet.
Musical Director Suzanne Newman has chosen to call the group’s next concert, Chocolate Box.
She said: “Our summer term project coincides with World Chocolate Day, so of course we will be working on songs about confectionery and sweets.
Our programme will include: Lollipop, Hotta chocolatta, The candyman, and A spoonful of sugar.”
The choir has a section for girls age nine to 18, and another for women.
“We’ve taken part in countless concerts, festivals, competitions and concert tours,” said Ms Newman.
The Project Singers is a great place to make new friends, improve vocal skills and learn new repertoire.
“Singers are encouraged to read music, and to improve performance.
“But we also enjoy social events together, and the summer term will end with a meal and quiz night.”
Suzanne is looking for singers to join the choir, with very informal auditions held during February and March.
“They won’t be scary – it’s mainly to see which vocal part to place singers in,” she explained.
Weekly rehearsals are held at Charvil Village Hall.
Girls rehearse on Sundays from 6.15pm until 7.45pm.
Women meet on Mondays, from 8pm until 9.30pm.
