Crowthorne Symphony Orchestra is preparing a powerful programme of music for their next audience.
Conductor Robert Roscoe, and orchestra leader Mike Jessop will take the players, and the audience, through an evening of music that includes Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, Sibelius’s Karelia Suite, and Barraine’s Symphony No. 2.
Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 is a dark, passionate, and serious work in D minor, considered by many to be his finest.
Sibelius’s Karelia Suite is a popular orchestral piece composed in 1893, known for its use of folk-like themes and its patriotic, nationalistic character, reflecting Finnish history and culture.
And Elsa Barraine’s Symphony No. 2 was composed in 1938 to express her unease over the impending World War II.
Audience members can enjoy all these pieces in the orchestra’s programme at All Saints Church, Wokingham, on Saturday, November 22, at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £17, or are free for 18yrs and under.
