WITH Spring just coming into view, it’s the time of year when many residents will be thinking about carrying out a spring clean.
A group of green-minded individuals are similarly planning to give Wokingham its own spruce and tidy up.
An event has been organised by SustEnable Wokingham, that will give people an opportunity to join in with a community effort to make the town greener and cleaner.
Open to all residents, a relaxed community litter pick will help keep Wokingham streets cleaner and safer.
Organisers will provide gloves and bin bags, along with a limited number of litter pickers, with people also invited to bring their own.
Taking part will help improve local wildlife areas, keep the streets welcoming and will contribute to a simple audit that highlights litter hotspots across the town, say the group.
After the litter pick, free refreshments will be available in Wokingham Town Hall, along with the chance to hear more about SustEnable Wokingham’s community projects.
SustEnable aims to bring together like-minded individuals committed to reducing the use of plastic, to promoting environmental projects, and to inspiring positive change toward a fairer, more sustainable world.
The event will take place at the Wokingham Town Hall entrance on Saturday, March 7, from 10m until noon.
