A SEA-themed concert is coming to Binfield this weekend, thanks to Thames Voyces.
The choir will be holding its summer showcase at St Mark’s church, with every piece having a nautical theme.
The programme includes sea shanties suitable for landlubbers, including Vaughan Williams’ Folk Songs, Stanford’s Songs of the Sea, and more contemporary works including Whitacre’s Seal Lullaby and Willcock’s Sea Shanties.
The Bracknell-based chamber choir, based in Jennett’s Park, will be conducted by Nick Austin, and accompanied by Ben Giddens.
Joining the choir as soloist for the concert is Greg Hallam, who is musical director of the Bracknell Choral Society.
The concert starts at 4pm on Saturday, July 8, and tickets cost £15. Accompanied under 16s get in free.
The choir also welcomes new members, particularly tenor and bass voices.
