A NEW charity has been launched in the borough, with the aim of enhancing the community through sport, advancing amateur football for the benefit of local people.
Finchampstead FC Foundation Charity’s mission is the promotion of healthy recreation through football.
The group’s first project is an initiative to transform Edgbarrow School’s pitch into a modern 3G facility.
Currently the school has a rubber astro pitch, but the charity plans to deliver a state-of-the-art facility.
A new upgraded pitch will offer a safer and more versatile playing surface, accommodating various age groups and skill levels throughout the year.
The Finchampstead FC Foundation hopes its inaugural project will enhance community well-being and foster greater participation among residents of Finchampstead and the surrounding areas.
“Our mission is to enhance community well-being through football, fostering participation and providing essential facilities for all,” said a representative of the charity.
“This project at Edgbarrow School represents a significant step towards achieving that goal.”
Currently, the foundation is in the funding stage of the project, and Edgbarrow School is in the process of gathering quotations for the necessary work.
This collaborative effort, says the charity, underscores the Foundation’s commitment to partnering with local institutions to deliver projects that yield significant community impact.
