Plans have been submitted that will see Wokingham become home to a new retailer.
Grape Tree, a health food retailer, has submitted plans to install signage at 1-2 Bush Walk in the heart of the town centre.
The unit was most recently the short-term home for the Wokingham poppy appeal. It was formerly The Bush Hotel.
Previously it had been leased by Pret a Manger, although their plans to open never came to fruition. Wokingham Today understands this was due to the fact that the property is listed, and plans to install a kitchen and make other alterations were not approved.
The new plans do not involve any internal or external alterations to the property.
Documents submitted with the application said: “Grape Tree will be taking on a new 10-year lease, and plans to open a shop to add to the 132 plus shops trading nationwide.
“It wants to replicate its corporate identity within the bounds of the conservation standards.”
Grape Tree, headquartered in the West Midlands, currently has locations in Berkshire in Reading, Maidenhead, and Windsor.
It has been approached for comment about its intended opening date, and recruitment plans.
