House builders at Cala Homes (Thames) has helpsd Oaklands School save money by upgrading its uniform storage, allowing the funds to be invested in pupils’ education and keeping uniforms affordable.
Oaklands needed a renovated uniform space due to their previous one leaking, leading to mould and damage to the uniforms donated by parents and locals. These donations are essential to their fundraising efforts to enrich their students.
When the team at Cala Homes found out the school needed a new storage system, they ordered the necessary materials to help the school create a new area for storing preloved uniforms, saving over £1,500.
The work was made possible thanks to Cala’s Community Pledge initiative at its Bucker’s Park development in Crowthorne.
The Community Pledge incorporates various tailored measures addressing specific community needs, including donations, volunteering, learning programmes, support initiatives and much more.
Sarah Neen, PTA co-chair at Oaklands School, said: “On behalf of the school, parents and carers, we are thankful to the team at Cala Homes who made this build possible and have now created a new home for our preloved uniforms.
“This enables us to continue our very popular uniform sales, which raise vital funds to support the growth and development of students; providing our families with accessible and affordable uniforms whilst promoting the sustainable reuse of clothing, helping us reduce waste and support a more environmentally conscious school community.”
Alison Deakin, sales and marketing director at Cala Homes (Thames), said: “At Cala Homes, giving back to the communities we develop in is at the heart of what we do.
“We’re proud that our donation will continue to support the school for years to come and will help to boost their fundraising efforts to ensure children have ongoing access to developmental opportunities.
“The school’s pre-loved drive is such an essential part of its network and provides much-needed relief to many families throughout the year.”
