Sunday’s David Cliff Wokingham Half Marathon has been hailed by many as one of the best yet.
Event sponsor David Cliff told Wokingham Today: “I have to say that this year’s event felt as good as it’s ever felt.
“The atmosphere was fantastic, busy with runners and families that all seemed to be up for a great day, and the rain holding off really helped.
“Speaking to some of the runners about their charities and ‘reasons why’ was very humbling, and reminded me both of why we do this, and the power of good people coming together to support what is important for them.
“This event gives them the platform to do it. I love it !
“It was great to see our very own town mayor Lou Timlin help start the race, and then jump down to join the masses and run for her incredible charity CLASP.
“On reflection, it was one of the best yet, and I already can’t wait till 2027.
“Thank you to everyone that came, and a special thank you to Chris and all his team at Race Solutions for doing what they do best.“
Lou Timlin, town mayor of Wokingham, told Wokingham Today: “It was an incredible event with a great mix of elite athletes, local running clubs and people running for charities.
“I have huge respect for everyone who took part, it’s not easy!
“The spectators, marshalls and volunteers at the water stations did a great job of encouraging all the runners .
“I definitely needed encouragement.
“I’m really pleased to have taken part and finished it. “Thank you to everyone who sponsored me (there’s still time!) and I look forward to being part of the crowd watching the event next year.”
