IT’S BEEN a while coming, but finally the Bar + Block Steakhouse in Winnersh is preparing to open – and to celebrate, it is offering diners a tasty 40% discount of their first meal there.
The restaurant, which promises high-quality steaks at high street prices, is part of a new Premier Inn hotel that is due to open, along with a drive-through Costa coffee branch, similar to the one in Earley’s Suttons Business Park.
And, because it is opening in summer, many visitors will be tempted to dine al-fresco on its sun terrace.
The opening date for the restaurant has been set for Friday, August 16, and it is situated at the Winnersh Crossroads and opposite Showcase Cinema. It is the 12th such branch for the chain.
Its menu focuses on an ever-changing selection of hand-cut steaks, from rump to ribeye, and sirloin. Bosses say that its signature cuts include marinated spiral cut sirloin.
A special ‘Butcher’s Block’ area will feature seasonal specials.
There’s more to the menu than steaks: there will be other menu choices including handmade beef burgers and lighter options such as burrata salad with Mediterranean style vegetables, salt and pepper squid and hot smoked salmon cooked over charcoal.
At weekends, it will serve a bottomless brunch from 9am-4pm, costing £15. This includes bottomless prosecco, hot drinks and juice with any item from the menu.
For breakfasts, its menu includes avocado and toast, granola with fruit salad, or its Bar + Block Works breakfast.
Between 11.30am and 5pm on weekdays, the Express Menu, aims to be served in 10 minutes.
And, being a bar, there will be a selection of craft beers and ciders, wines and creative cocktails, which are half price from 5-7pm, Monday to Thursday.
