MEMBERS of an Inner Wheel club welcomed their organisation’s UK president to their April rally.

Sheila Thorpe, Club correspondent of the club’s Reading Maiden Erlegh branch says that the group welcomed president of the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in Great Britain & Ireland Anthea Tilsley to their celebrations.

“After a pre-rally supper the previous evening, we began with a thanksgiving service at Sonning Parish Church.

“This was followed by a lovely meal, wine, and much chatter with other district Inner Wheel Clubs, at the Mill at Sonning.”

Ms Tilsley lit the group’s candle of friendship, which is illuminated at every meeting.

She also cut a specially made cake with Reading Maiden Erlegh club president Hilary Tindall.

“The cake was created for the occasion to celebrate the centenary this year of the Inner Wheel organisation,” sheila added.

The group was originally founded in 1924 in the UK, but is now a worldwide organisation.

The Reading Maiden Erlegh branch meets at Sonning Golf Club on the third Thursday evening of every month.

The club welcomes new members to join in the fun, take part in activities, raise funds for charity and support the local community.
