Tree planting has taken place at a site in Finchampstead.
The memorial woodland, which lies immediately north of California Country Park, is being planted to honour those who lost their lives during the coronavirus pandemic.
Wokingham Borough Council plans to plant more than 6,700 trees across the 7.7-hectares site.
It will feature a mix of British and UK-sourced and grown stock, made up of 17 different species suitable for the site conditions, including field maple, hornbeam, hazel, holly, wild cherry, and English oak, among others.
Wildflower seeding will take place later this spring and summer. It also plans to create footpaths to help residents visit the woodland.
Assisted by members of the council’s countryside services team, residents attended eight sessions during March, helping to plant about 1,000 trees in four days.
