POLICE maintaining a presence in Woodley this evening as they continue their enquiries into reports that a five-year-old girl was roaming this streets in the early hours of this morning.
Throughout the day, officers have been investing the claims that the girl was walking along a footpath in Woodlands Avenue around 5am.

The Wokingham Paper understands that they have been conducting door-to-door enquiries in a bid to gather information, asking parents about their children and trying to trace the youngsters.
There is a description of the girl – in a statement released on its Facebook page this morning, Police said that she is white and was wearing a pink dressing gown, with navy leggings, black shoes and was wearing her hair in a ponytail. It is thought that she has blonde hair.
It is not known why she was in the streets by herself at 5am, or where she is now.
The child is not thought to be a missing person, a theory offered by outlets earlier today.

The Wokingham Paper has spoken with Thames Valley Police and been told that an update will be released by officers either later today or tomorrow morning.
Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses or sightings to help them as they try and track her down.

In a statement on their Facebook page, Inspector Caroline Harrison said: “Officers are currently in Woodley searching for the child and making enquiries following reports she was on her own early this morning. At this stage we have not had any reports of a missing person.
“We would like anyone in the local community who wish to assist to report any possible sightings of the child to police or to come forward with any information which may help with our enquiries and to identify who the child is.”
