THE PRINCESS of Wales will host her third Together At Christmas carol service in London on Friday.
Wokingham’s First Days Children’s Charity is delighted that two of its volunteers have been invited to attend.
The event in Westminster Abbey brings people together and recognises those who have gone above and beyond to help others throughout the year, with guests from more than 100 UK charities invited to attend.
Volunteers Lyn Bell and Claire Anderson, take First Days’ mobile outreach van to Woodley every week.
There, they meet families, and provide essential items such as school uniforms, bedding and toiletries.
They come alongside families who are struggling financially, and help them find the long term support they need to change their lives.
Emma Cantrell, CEO of First Days, said: “Lyn and Claire are fabulous volunteers.
“They are both so committed to us, faithfully going out in our van every Wednesday, to Woodley shopping precinct, where they chat with people, provide what they need, and build relationships.
“Lyn and Claire are gold dust.
“Week after week, they turn up and go out, rain or shine.
“There have been times when they both come back drenched to the bone.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales, and other members of the Royal Family, will attend the Together At Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey on Friday, December 8.
It will include traditional carols from the Westminster Abbey choir, and guest performances from Jacob Collier, Freya Ridings, James Bay, Beverley Knight and Adam Lambert.
Speakers will include The Prince of Wales, Micheal Ward, Emma Willis, Roman Kemp, and Jim Broadbent.
A specially commissioned poem written by Joseph Coelho, the Children’s Laureate, will also be read by Leonie Elliott.
The event will be broadcast as part of Royal Carols: Together At Christmas, on ITV1 and ITV X, at 7:45pm on Christmas Eve.
