Every week we pick artists with a link to Reading or Wokingham, and you can tune in for free via out Spotify playlist. Enjoy…

The Cold Blooded Hearts – Love’s Lost – Did you know that, as well as being a great football manager, Gareth Ainsworth, of Wycombe Wanderers & QPR fame, is also a great rock vocalist! If you want to see evidence of that you should get along to Wokingham Festival on Sunday August 25th where Gareth will be playing with his band The Cold Blooded Hearts in his home town! Andy Merritt & myself popped along to the band’s rehearsal last week and we were well impressed! They play a wonderful and exciting classic rock style and will be performing tracks from their critically acclaimed, ‘The Cold Light of Day’ album plus a few surprise covers at the festival. Even in a rehearsal setting in a small studio we could see what an impressive front person Gareth is and what an impressive group of musicians make up the rest of the band. As well as Gareth, the band features other local musicians in Sam ‘Shuffla’ Brice (Drums) & Giselle (Keyboards) plus from further afield Lee Van-Sergeant (Guitar) and Ron Campbell (Bass). They all told us how much they are looking forward to playing at Wokingham Festival and we can’t wait for that – https://thecoldbloodedhearts.com/

Tom Robinson Band – Power in the Darkness – We are lucky to have some classic artists coming to play in the area and here’s one of the best! It’s the Tom Robinson Band who will be at Reading Face Bar this Saturday (3rd). They will be performing tracks from their two brilliant albums from the late 70’s, ’Power in the Darkness’ and ‘TRB II’ plus more. Both albums are chock full of powerful anthems with socially aware lyrics that are as relevant now as they were back then – https://www.facebook.com/tomrobinsonmusic

Kavus Torabi – Snake Humanis – We featured Kavus last year when we saw him fronting Gong at The 1865 in Southampton. That was a great show and now Kavus is coming to Reading to perform his own set on the back of a new album, ‘The Banishing’. As you’d expect from Kavus the album has quite a unique sound with its atmospheric pysch pop feel and his distinctive vocal style. It will be fascinating to see him perform songs from the album live which you can do at the Face Bar next Tuesday 6th – https://www.facebook.com/KavusTorabi

Rila’s Edge – All In – Another quality single from the fast rising Wokingham band who are headlining Sunday night at Wokingham Festival later this month – https://www.rilasedge.com/

Nineteenth Hour – Fire The Gun – This Oxford based band performed an excellent set at Readipop. This is their most recent single – https://www.nineteenthhour.co.uk/

Purple Grace – All This Time –These Oxford based indie rockers performed a great set at Wokingham Festival last year and we see that they are playing a home town show at Jericho Tavern in Oxford on 16th August – https://www.facebook.com/purplegraceband
