Reading FC made it back-to-back wins in League One for the first time this season as they defeated Burton Albion at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Chem Campbell was at the double as he netted his two goals in Reading colours, while Sam Smith added a third late on before Burton grabbed a consolation goal.
The victory means that the Royals are now on 13 points and in 12th position in the League One table.
Ruben Selles made just one switch to the starting eleven from Reading’s win over Huddersfield Town.
16-year-old Andre Garcia came into the team at left-back to replace Kelvin Abrefa.
Meanwhile, Lewis Wing, Harvey Knibbs and Sam Smith each made their 50th appearance for the club.
Chem Campbell opened the scoring as he netted his first goal in Reading colours to them ahead after 23 minutes.
Despite goalkeeper Max Crocombe getting a glove to Campbell’s effort, it wasn’t strong enough to prevent him from finding the net.
It wasn’t long before Campbell enjoyed his second taste of scoring for the Royals.
The winger showed great eagerness to steal the ball from Burton just outside their box before he fired a shot into the bottom corner.
David Button was called into action late in the half to ensure that Reading took a comfortable two goal lead into the break as he got low to push away a Burton strike.
The game was put behind all doubt 10 minutes before the end as Sam Smith headed in off the crossbar from Lewis Wing’s corner.
However, the Brewers quickly grabbed a goal back through Danilo Orsi.
Selles was forced into a change late in the day as young defender Garcia went down with an injury and had to be replaced by the experienced Harlee Dean.
The Royals saw out the game to claim the points which puts them up to 12th on 13 points.
Reading are away at Steve Evans’ Rotherham side on Saturday in their next League One outing.
