READING have smashed their transfer record to sign Romanian striker George Puscas on a permanent deal believed to be in the region of £10million.
Puscas has signed a five-year contract at the Madejski Stadium.
He becomes the fourth signing the Royals have announced in two days after they brought in Rafael, Pele and Lucas Joao.
“George is a young, hungry, talented forward with a natural instinct to score goals,” said Reading manager Jose Gomes.
” Without goals you cannot win games and we now have different options to choose from in the final third of the field. I am looking forward to welcoming him into our squad at Reading.”
The 23-year-old has impressed during his stay in Italy where he was sent out on three different loan spells during his first stint at Inter Milan.
Puscas then joined fellow Serie a side Palermo on a permanent deal in 2018, where he scored nine goals in 33 league appearances, before returning to Inter.
The 6’2 forward has also raised eyebrows on the international scene having scored four goals in eight appearances for the Romania senior team.
He also boasts an impressive record at Under-21 international level having scored a remarkable 18 goals in 25 games for Romania Under-21’s. Puscas was named in the UEFA European Under-21 Team of the Tournament in 2019 after finishing as the runner-up to the golden boot.
Chief Executive Nigel Howe said, “All teams need goals in their ranks and, in George Pușcaș, we have another talented young striker who can get them for us. I am delighted to welcome him to Madejski Stadium and excited to see him represent the Royals.”
