Wokingham borough council has confirmed it is still accepting car park payment using the RingGo app.
A social media post from a concerned driver last week sparked confusion. The suggestion was that a parking enforcement notice had been issued after the driver had used the app to pay for parking in Easthampstead Road car park, and that the council had ceased to use the payment provider.
A spokesperson for Wokingham borough council told Wokingham Today the driver appeared to have incorrectly entered the vehicle registration – leading to the ticket being issued.
Highlighting the importance of entering correct details, the spokesperson said: “ The app we use to collect payments at our off-street car parks has improved how it collects your details.
“RingGo’s new vehicle validation service checks your number plate the first time you register, which reduces the risk of you mistyping it in future.
“This can lead to a penalty charge notice being issued, which we can only consider overturning if you make a formal appeal.
“We’re pleased with this simple change, which is based on feedback from motorists and councils, as it can reduce frustration for everyone involved.”
