Home-Start Wokingham has issued a heart-felt thanks to everyone who voted for them in the last round of Tesco Stronger Starts blue token scheme at the Finchampstead Road store.
Thanks to Tesco shoppers, Home-Start said it will be able to continue to provide life changing support to local children through its compassionate Home Visiting service.
Louise Jedras, the Tesco community champion, said: “Home-Start is such a great charity, and it does amazing work in our community.
“It is a real pleasure to see them benefit from a Tesco Stronger Starts grant to assist with the essential help they give to local families.”
The support that Home-Start provides is unique in Wokingham Borough, filling a gap in support for some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged families.
It specialises in early years support, so most of the children who benefit are under the age of five.
By intervening at the earliest stage, Home-Start aims to give these children a better start in life so that they can reach their true potential in later life.
Amy Fennell, Home-Start’s fundraiser, said: “We are enormously grateful for this donation.
“The money will be spent on ensuring we can provide our Home Visiting service to the increasing number of children being referred to us.
“The funding will also enable us to recruit more volunteers so that we are in a strong enough position to meet the growing demand.”
