A COMMUNITY venture in Spencers Wood celebrates three years of mending and fixing this month.
The Repair Cafe at Lambs Lane Primary School is three years old, having first opened in May 2022.
“There was the Reading Repair Cafe, and that was it,” said the group’s founder Billie Bachra.
“Now we have six groups in the local area, with at least one one of them open every weekend.
“How great is that?”
The Spencers Wood organisation has been delighted to receive lots of positive feedback, just from this last month alone.
One visitor said: “I brought my broken car key fob, and a very loose rocking chair.
“Both items were repaired and everyone involved was so keen and eager to help.
“I’m really pleased – thank you very much.”
Another said: My lawnmower was fixed with the help of the fantastic team at Lambs Lane Repair Cafe.
“Thank you so much to all of them.”
A third said: “I brought in a dress to be shortened, and I’m very happy with the result.”
Billie and her team invites everyone to help them celebrate on Sunday, May 18, when the repair cafe will be open for fixing and mending enquiries from 10am until 1pm. The group’s versatile team can cover most mending issues that come their way.
The repair cafe is open on the third Sunday of every month, at the Spencers Wood primary school.
