Wokingham’s Conservative group leader Pauline Jorgensen has been selected as the parliamentary spokesperson for Earley and Woodley.
Guy Grandison, chairman of Earley and Woodley Conservatives, said: “Pauline, who has spent decades working for local residents, was chosen to campaign for local people and challenge the Labour government on behalf of the Conservative party in the constituency”.
A spokesperson added Pauline has pledged to hold the current Labour MP, Yuan Yang, to account, particularly on her betrayal of local residents over the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
Pauline previously stood as the Conservative candidate in the 2024 General Election when the constituency was first created. She came within just 848 votes of being elected in a constituency of more than 70,000 people.
Pauline said: “I want to thank local Conservatives for putting their trust in me to be their spokesperson in Earley and Woodley.
“I am determined to stand up for local people and hold this disastrous Labour government to account.
“Since Labour was elected, it’s been nothing but broken promises. Energy bills are up, taxes are up, winter fuel payments have been scrapped, the country’s growth is declining, and money is being slashed from programmes like the one set up by the Conservatives to replace the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
“All the while, Sir Keir Stamer, backed by Labour’s MP in Earley and Woodley, seemed focused on massive pay rises for their union backers.
“Britain deserves better than Labour, and so does Earley and Woodley.”
